Rocky Mount, Va. (August 16, 2024) – The Franklin County Family YMCA is thrilled to announce the successful completion of our Pack the Backpack Drive, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community members. This year, we collected a total of 257 items and 24 backpacks, which are now available to any Franklin County students in need.
The drive, aimed at ensuring that every student in our community has the necessary supplies for the upcoming school year, has surpassed our expectations. The donated items, including notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, and more, will go a long way in supporting students as they prepare for their academic journey.
“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our community,” said Jessica Thomason, YMCA Branch/Membership Director. “The generosity shown by our donors is a testament to the spirit of care and solidarity that defines Franklin County. These supplies will make a significant impact in the lives of many students, helping them start the school year on the right foot.”
The collected supplies are available for any families in need. We encourage those who could benefit from these resources to visit us and pick up the items necessary for a successful school year.
This initiative is part of the YMCA’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We believe that every child deserves the tools to succeed in school and beyond, and we are dedicated to making that a reality.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the Pack the Backpack Drive. Your kindness and support are deeply appreciated and truly make a difference in our community.
