2024 Sessions

Session 1 (May 28 – May 31)
Closed Monday, May 27th – Happy Memorial Day!
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Summer Blast Off
During week one, we will welcome campers to a fun-filled summer break. We will have the bounce houses and obstacle course up on Wednesday and we will go skating on Friday.
Character Challenge: RESPECT
Friday Field Trip: Firehouse Skate in Vinton

Session 2 (June 3 – 7)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Start Your Engines
Campers will be racing into week two. Campers will be creating their box cars this week. We will choose the most creative box car and campers and counselors will have a friendly relay competition on Thursday.
Character Challenge: SINCERITY
Friday Field Trip: Uptown Pinball, Martinsville, VA

Session 3 (June 10 – 14)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Campfire Chronicles
Campers will experience the great outdoors. We will go to Waid Park on Monday; Tuesday we will hike the Grassy Hill trail across the street from the YMCA; and Wednesday and Thursday we will be setting up campsites and preparing yummy camping food.
Character Challenge: CARING
Friday Field Trip: Movietown, Martinsville, VA

Session 4 (June 17 – 21)
Closed Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Splish Splash
This week is a camp favorite. We will be enjoying all types of water sports and relays so make sure to pack swimsuits and a towel every day.

Friday Field Trip: Splash Valley, Roanoke, VA

Session 5 (June 24 – 28)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Secret Agent
Campers will enjoy a week filled with spy games and adventure. We will end the week at Defy Gravity in Roanoke on Friday. They will be able to jump on trampolines and train their inner ninja skills.
Character Challenge: GENEROSITY

Session 6 (July 1 – 5)
Closed Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Road to Independence
Campers will enjoy a spirited week: Monday will be red, white and blue day; Tuesday will be Twin Day (Dress up like your counselor or one of your fellow campers); Wednesday will be Wacky Wednesday.

Friday Field Trip: Water Slides at the Y

Session 7 (July 8 – 12)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Go for the Gold
Campers will work this week on their talents as an individual or with their friends. On Thursday we will have our annual Talent Show that the campers will present to the rest of camp.

Friday Field Trip: Rocky Mount Bowling Center

Session 8 (July 15 – 19)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Down on the Farm
Campers will enjoy a week packed full of animals. We will explore farm life and harvesting. We will be planting crops and flowers.
Character Challenge: SINCERITY
Friday Field Trip: Firehouse Skate Center, Vinton, VA

Session 9 (July 22 – 26)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Lost in Space
This week campers will explore space and a variety of science experiments. Each group will present their own science experiment to their fellow campers on Thursday.
Character Challenge: HONESTY
Friday Field Trip: Bounce, Roanoke, VA

Session 10 (July 29 – August 2)
Location: Rocky Mount Elementary
Theme: Music Fest
This week campers will be having their own hometown music festival. We will enjoy lots of music and dancing along with learning about different instruments and Fun Facts about the music world.
Character Challenge: CARING
Friday Field Trip: Splash Valley, Roanoke, VA

Session 11 (August 5 – 9)
Location: Rocky Mount YMCA
Theme: Nature Explorers
Campers will explore the great outdoors. We will go to Waid Park on Monday. Throughout the week, we will explore nature and learn about different plants and animals that are among us all the time.
Character Challenge: GENEROSITY
Friday Field Trip: Uptown Pinball, Martinsville, VA

Session 12 (August 12 – 16)
Location: Rocky Mount YMCA
Theme: Operation Farewell
Campers will end summer break with all kinds of water activities to cool off and refresh for a new school year. We will be going to Waid Park on Monday and then have our last splash at Splash Valley.
Character Challenge: RESPONSIBILITY
