The Franklin County Family YMCA is thrilled to announce the success of its recent canned food drive, which collected over 300 canned food items. This initiative not only reflects the generosity and compassion of the local community but also underscores the YMCA’s commitment to serving and supporting those in need.
The canned food drive, which ran from January 1st to the 31st, aimed to address food insecurity within our community, particularly during these challenging times. Through the collective efforts of YMCA members, staff, and the wider community, the drive surpassed expectations, showcasing the power of unity and compassion in making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
“We are deeply grateful for the incredible outpouring of support from our community during this canned food drive,” said Jessica Thomason, Branch and Membership Director at the Franklin County YMCA. “The response underscores the collective commitment to helping those facing food insecurity in our community. Together, we have made a significant impact and provided essential support to those in need.”
In conjunction with the canned food drive, the YMCA also offered a special membership promotion, providing an opportunity for individuals to join the YMCA community while contributing to a meaningful cause. During the promotion period, individuals who donated three canned goods were eligible to join the YMCA for free, further incentivizing participation and engagement in the charitable initiative.
“We were thrilled to see members of our community not only contributing to the canned food drive but also taking advantage of the opportunity to join the YMCA and become part of our supportive and inclusive community,” added Thomason, “This initiative truly embodies the spirit of giving and underscores the YMCA’s mission to foster a sense of belonging and make a positive impact in the lives of individuals and families.”
The success of the canned food drive highlights the incredible generosity and compassion within the Franklin County community and serves as a testament to the YMCA’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting those in need.
