Franklin County, Va. (May 13, 2026) – The Franklin County YMCA is proud to welcome Jeremiah Cook as its new Fitness Director, bringing a wealth of experience in leadership, community service, and health and wellness to the organization.
A graduate of Ferrum College (Class of 2011), Jeremiah has deep roots in the Franklin County community. He is married to Ashlee Cook, a teacher with Martinsville City Public Schools, and is a devoted father of three children who are actively involved in Franklin County sports programs. His commitment to youth development is evident through his role as a volunteer coach for multiple sports with the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Department.
In addition to his community involvement, he currently serves as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army Reserves, with over a decade of dedicated military service. His professional background also includes more than ten years in law enforcement and corrections within the Roanoke Valley. During that time, he earned a Basic Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Level Certification and a National Honor Guard Academy Certificate, distinctions that reflect his leadership, discipline, and commitment to excellence. These credentials also positioned him as a frontline trainer, mentoring others while maintaining a high standard of physical fitness.
Further demonstrating his commitment to holistic health, he is actively pursuing a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Pastoral Counseling at Liberty University. Through this work, he aims to support not only the physical health of the community but also its spiritual and mental wellness.
“I am honored to join the Franklin County YMCA and serve this incredible community,” Cook shared. “My goal is to help advance the YMCA’s mission by promoting health and wellness while building meaningful partnerships throughout the community.”
