Rocky Mount, Va. (October 14, 2025) – The Franklin County Family YMCA Riptide Swim Team started their season off this past weekend at the Andy Craver Autumn Leaves Invitational, hosted by TYDE at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The meet featured 11 teams and more than 775 swimmers, making it an exciting and competitive way to open the season!
Our Riptide swimmers had an outstanding weekend filled with first-time swims, personal bests, and even regional qualifying times.
Meet Highlights:
- Parker Allen earned his first official times in the 50y butterfly and 100y breaststroke, while also achieving personal bests in the 50y freestyle, 50y breaststroke, and 100y freestyle.
- Caroline Beauchamp had a standout meet with personal bests in the 100y butterfly and 200y IM. She also became our first Riptide swimmer this season to qualify for the Upper Southeast Regional YMCA Championships, achieving qualifying times in the 50y freestyle and 100y backstroke!
- Hunter Beauchamp earned personal bests in the 200y freestyle, 100y breaststroke, and 200y IM.
- Tinslee Biggs competed in her very first meet as a Riptide swimmer, getting her first official times in the 100y IM, 50y backstroke, and 100y freestyle.
- Tesa Greer had an amazing weekend with six personal best swims, setting new marks in the 50y freestyle, 50y butterfly, 100y breaststroke, 100y butterfly, 50y breaststroke, and 100y freestyle.
- Nyla Gurley raced to three personal bests in the 100y breaststroke, 100y backstroke, and 100y freestyle.
- Avery Hylton went an impressive 4-for-4, earning personal best times in every event: 100y freestyle, 50y freestyle, 100y backstroke, and 500y freestyle.
- Anna White competed in seven events over the weekend and came close to matching her personal bests in all of them.
It was a fantastic start to the season and a great display of teamwork, effort, and growth. The Riptide will be back in action this coming weekend at the LY October Invitational hosted by the Jamerson YMCA in Lynchburg.
