Main Recreation Center in Rocky Mount
- Features a well-maintained full service facility which opened in spring 1998
- Comprehensive fitness and wellness center with over 75 stations of top-of-the-line cardio, circuit training equipment, and free weights
- Walking track suspended over gymnasium
- Two side-by-side full-length basketball courts
- Exercise studio for aerobics and other group exercise programs
- Cooper Aquatics Center has two heated pools, a 25-yard, six lane lap and competition pool and a four foot deep program pool for lessons, water exercise, and family play
- Large locker and dressing rooms for both men and women, with dry saunas in each, as well as family dressing room area
- Outdoor recreation facilities include a community fitness trail that is 2/3 of a mile, two playgrounds for children, and the Franklin County Parks and Recreation Skate Park
Essig Youth Center in Rocky Mount (next door to Recreation Center)
- Features a one-of-a kind facility built for youth and arts programming which opened in fall of 2005 -- you’ve never seen a place like this!
- Lobby includes art gallery and reception area showcasing a wide range of local and regional art
- Land of Wonder Preschool, the Y's outstanding program to provide all-day child care and to prepare youngsters for school
- Children's Activity Center, an award-winning space designed specifically for fitness and wellness play for children through age 12
- Community Room and Performing Arts Center, a large "black box" created for community meetings and gatherings and for special artistic performances
- Two state-of-the art dance and exercise studios, complete with floating wooden floors
- Two arts classrooms and two music classrooms
- Full-court gym with six baskets and indoor soccer goals
- Community and private facility use for birthdays, weddings, and other special events
- Crown jewel of the facility is a beautiful patio which opens onto the Y's 40-acre wooded park and playing field
Smith Mountain Lake YMCA
- Features a beautiful new facility opening in January 2008
- Comprehensive fitness and wellness center
- Racquetball court
- Two indoor tennis courts (opened in October 2007)
- Exercise studio for aerobics and other group exercise programs
- Multi-purpose room for children's classes, community meetings, and more
- ChildWatch Nursery
- Full-length basketball court surrounded by an indoor walking track
- Men's and women's locker rooms
- Outdoor recreation including two outdoor tennis courts, playground area, a ball field, and a one-mile-loop nature trail (opening summer 2008)
